This week, our class members spent part of class working on the power clean, a technical Olympic lifting movement that requires coordination, timing, strength, and skill. Instead of simply handing everyone a barbell and telling them to get to work, our coaches created drills and broke the movement down into smaller pieces. We used drills, provided individual feedback, reinforced proper positioning, and coached athletes through the process with patience and precision.

Last weekend, I attended my first Two-Brain Business Summit. For those who don't know, it's an annual conference hosted by one of the largest business mentorship organizations just for gym owners in the world. A few years ago, when I first signed up for mentorship with them, I was skeptical. It was going to be a large investment for my small business, but something was telling me to give it a try.

Recently I was talking with a friend in the health and fitness industry about life, the gym, and how training changes as we get older. As we discussed the differences we often see between people who train and those who do not, especially in their abilities and overall health, we also acknowledged how many people who have trained for years tend to give themselves a hard time as they age and sometimes quit altogether because they can no longer perform the way they used to.
